Addiction Treatment In Newport Beach, California

BROOKSIDE INSTITUTE’S QMPAS™ USES THE iPod™ TO TREAT ADDICTION

NEWPORT BEACH, CA. – Brookside Institute announced a new tool for treating addiction that uses a popular and familiar device, the Apple iPod™.

QMPAS™ (pronounced "compass") combines the latest innovations in neuroscience with digital technology to create a tool to help patients during and after their treatment at Brookside Institute. QMPAS™ has two important components, brainwave entrainment and multi-media elements that are individualized for each patient.

The Brainwave Entrainment Process developed by Brookside Institute uses the Q Factor of the patient’s brainwave integrated with music to produce a frequency that reinforces the patient’s improved brain function achieved during treatment. "We are able to improve our patients’ brain functions with Magno-EEG Resonant Therapy (MERT), Neurofeedback and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. QMPAS™ helps them retain that improvement," stated Dr. Trung Thai M.D., F.A.C.G.S., Medical Director of Brookside Institute.

During treatment, the patient’s therapist and other members of the treatment team create audio and video segments that help remind the patient of the concepts he or she learned during different therapy sessions. The entrainment, audio files and videos are downloaded onto an iPod™ that is given to the patient to take home. "QMPAS™ is the next best thing to going home with our patients. With QMPAS™ patients have access to us whenever they need a little extra help," said Laura Rothafel, M.A., L.M.F.T., Clinical Director of Brookside Institute.

"I am excited about the extraordinary progress Brookside Institute has made in the past year since opening our NeuroScience Center," stated E. Keith Owens, Director of Brookside Institute. "Adding QMPAS™ to the Brookside Recovery Protocol™ allows us to give our patients a tool they can use long after they have completed our program."
