Substance Abuse Philosophy at Brookside Institute

Brookside Institute uses cutting edge treatments and scientifically researched methods to treat substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our process has become recognized as the state-of-the-art "Brookside Recovery Protocol."

Based on scientific and medical research, Brookside Institute views addiction and substance abuse as a disorder of the brain that affects your mind and your body, as well as your spirit. Very much like epilepsy and diabetes, there is no cure for this disorder. However, if successfully treated, a positive and productive life can be maintained.

Often addiction is just one part of the problem. Recent studies have shown that over 70 percent of men and women treated for addiction or substance abuse suffer from a co-occurring mental health condition. This is commonly referred to as "Dual Diagnosis." Some examples of co-occurring conditions are Depression, Anxiety, Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Bipolar Disorder.

Based on scientific data and case studies, it is crucial to treat both the substance abuse and any co-occuring disorders at the same time. At Brookside Institute we create a treatment plan designed specifically for you. The old school of thought - "one-size fits all" treatment - is long gone.

Our ultimate goal at Brookside is to help you discover recovery and once again become the man or woman you were created to be. Our staff is dedicated to the philosophy of giving you and your loved ones the very best opportunities to recover and find a more fulfilling and rewarding life through abstinence from drugs and alcohol.

We want to provide you with the best possible chance for success in treating your addiction.
